Help us save water

We are delighted to have the great honor of welcoming guests to the island of Gotland for much of the year. Due to dry spring and summer months, groundwater levels have significantly declined in recent years. Water is a limited resource that we all need to take care of, especially during the summer when demand is high and rainfall is low.

Here at Kneippbyn, we have invested in “low-flow” nozzles in showers, bathroom faucets, and kitchen faucets in both our various accommodations and service buildings. We understand that the reduced water volume may result in lower pressure, but the impact is significant.

Our pools operate in a closed loop system where water is constantly purified and reused. When we refill our pools annually, we use rainwater collected throughout the year in our own pond. The water is then purified to provide a pleasant bathing experience. Additionally, we clean the facility with 100% eco-labeled products.

Energy

During our season, a considerable amount of energy is consumed. As we have a large facility encompassing various areas of operation such as amusement parks, accommodations, and restaurants, it is an exciting challenge to continuously reduce our energy consumption. Among other things, we have replaced all the resort’s lights with LED lighting.

We are gradually expanding our solar panel capacity. Equipment that is energy-intensive, such as washing machines, dishwashers, or air conditioning units, is continuously being replaced with the most energy-efficient alternatives. We measure our consumption in real-time to ensure minimal energy wastage.

Travel

A short journey far away” is somewhat of Gotland’s slogan. We are well aware that whether you choose the ferry or the airplane, the journey has a climate impact. Both the airline and ferry operators are actively working to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions. Destination Gotland, for example, has the goal of ensuring a fossil-free crossing by 2045.

Once you arrive on the island, we recommend renting bicycles. Not only is it environmentally friendly, but it’s also very convenient for experiencing Gotland and Visby by bike. The local bus is also a good alternative with frequent services to the island’s towns and beaches.

Restaurant

Food is a central part of our operations. Whenever possible, we strive to use both local and organic certified ingredients. We always serve a variety of dishes, and of course, there are vegetarian and vegan options available.

Preserving food is important to us. Daily, we repurpose the ingredients that haven’t been used to create other dishes. We weigh our compost daily to ensure minimal food waste continuously. Of course, we want you to enjoy delicious food and eat as much as you like, but please take just the right amount on your plate. In the parks, we have drastically reduced the use of disposable items in recent years. In cases where they are necessary, they are 100% recyclable.

Recycling

With 50,000 guest nights and approximately 80,000 guests in our parks, it naturally generates a significant amount of waste. We continuously invest in expanding sorting options. As a guest with us, you can contribute to our efforts. Sorting facilities are available both in your accommodation and at our environmental stations. From 2021 to 2022, we reduced our combustible waste by 22 percent.

Coworker

We aim to be a workplace that enables sustainable employees. In our wonderful team, we have employees from several countries and different age groups. With us, one should be able to grow, whether a career within the company or elsewhere awaits. During our season, the workforce multiplies, and for many of our stars, their first summer job awaits.

We believe that the best ideas arise when we feel good and have fun together. That’s why we actively work with both our Well-being Package and what we call the Fun Factor.

Kneippbyn for everyone

Everyone is welcome with us. For those with disabilities, there are several activities available at both the summer and water parks. Accessibility is, of course, also provided to toilets and our restaurants. Escorts accompany for free.
