Kneippbyn Cruise – For cruise passengers

It is Sweden’s most popular villa. The original house from the Swedish TV films about Pippi Longstocking is centrally located in Kneippbyn Resort’s adventure park, Sommarland.

Come and see where Pippi lives, sneak up the stairs to Astrid Lindgren’s writing chamber, and if, but only if, you dare, enter Pippi’s spooky attic filled with pirates and buccaneers.

Astrid The Story is an exhibition about Astrid Lindgren and Pippi Longstocking. Why were the films shot on Gotland? In addition to the exciting story, you’ll find classic Pippi quotes and wonderful images. In this area, you can also read more about and take photos of the T-Ford and the motorcycle with a sidecar that officers Kling and Klang used during the TV filming.

The area is incredibly interesting, and of course, we also share more about the history of Kneippbyn and how Villa Villekulla ended up here. Did you know that films have actually been shot right here with us? You are most welcome!

We want Villa Villekulla to be available to all who wish to travel back in time and relive cherished childhood memories. For this reason, Villa Villekulla remains open beyond the regular summer season.

We are open from 09:00 – 14:00 on the following dates (subject to change):

December 7 – (Aidaprima)

If paying on-site, the entrance fee is 180 SEK/adult & 140 SEK/child.

Guided tours, with Villa Villekulla as one of the stops, are provided by the respective ferry operators. More information can be found in your cruise’s booking portal.

Villa Villekulla

The films “Pippi in the South Seas” and “Pippi on the Run” were filmed at Kneippbyn’s Sommarland after the house was moved here in 1970—in one piece! In 2001-2002, 2010, and 2015, Villa Villekulla was renovated to recreate the setting from the classic films. Villa Villekulla is a turn-of-the-century villa, and a marking by E. Ahlqvist on the staircase suggests the house was either expanded or built in 1902. Originally, the villa was a manager’s residence belonging to the Gotland Regiment at Visborgsslätt. And it’s said that if it hadn’t been for Pippi, the house, which was in poor condition before the films were made, would have been torn down in the late 1960s.

Magasinet – The Gift Shop

In our shop, which we call Magasinet, you’ll find a wide selection of Pippi-themed items. How about a pair of pajamas, a stylish bag, Mr. Nilsson, or Lilla Gubben? In addition to the large Pippi collection, there are Gotland souvenirs, summer clothes, candy, drinks, and much more. Magasinet is a natural stop after visiting Villekulla. If you’re lucky, our adventure golf with 18 themed courses might also be open.

Kneippbyn Resort Visby is located by the sea, about 4 km south of Visby.
You can get here by taxi, bike, or bus.
Hop on Hop off operates several tours every day when cruise ships arrive in Visby. More information and timetables can be found here.
Visby Shuttle is a convenient option for those who want to visit us quickly, smoothly, and easily. Whether you’re a larger group or just a few people, there are great options for simple transportation.

Gotlands Cykeluthyrning (Gotland Bike Rentals) offers bike rentals. You can easily reach Kneippbyn by bike without overexerting yourself.

Villa Villekulla, with its unique decor, characters, and Lilla Gubben (which, by the way, is perfect for sitting on to take that perfect picture), is an exciting experience enhanced with sound effects. Maybe you want to leave your pacifier in Pippi’s suitcase?
In the area, there are also fun electric cars, a play ship, and the opportunity to bounce around in our bouncy castle. So, there are plenty of ways for the kids to burn off some energy!

Summer at Kneippbyn

From May 23 to August 24, Kneippbyn Resort, including Sommar- and Vattenland, is open almost every day. During this period, the above product does not apply, and Villa Villekulla is included in the regular entrance ticket to the amusement parks. If you only want to visit Villa Villekulla, a quick-stop ticket is available.
