About Orup 🎤
Orup has had a long career and has one of the strongest song catalogs in Swedish pop music.
He made his breakthrough in 1987 with the single "Är du redo" (Are you ready), followed by "Jag blir hellre jagad av vargar" ( I'd rather be hunted by wolves ) 🐺 – the song that became Orup's big breakthrough ⭐. Since then, Orup has created ten studio albums with lots of classic hits such as"Stockholm," "Regn hos mig" (Rainat my place) 🌧️, "Magaluf" ☀️🌴, and "Tiden bara gick" ⏳ from his latest full-length album, "Född i november." Orup has also had great success as a songwriter for artists such as Lena Philipsson and Linnea Henriksson ✍️🎶.
In the summer of 2012, Orup completed a highly acclaimed tour, which was his first solo tour in 10 years.
In the fall of 2014, Orup premiered his own hit show "Viva La Pop" 💃🕺 at Hamburger Börs, which was loved by the audience ❤️ and praised in the media 📰. When the final performance took place at Cirkus in Stockholm on December 20, 2016, 🎪, 213 sold-out shows had been performed, 24 cities visited, 🗺️ and over 150,000 tickets sold. 🎟️
By the summer of 2017, he was back again – this time with GES 🎤🎤🎤 at Borgholm Castle Ruins 🏰. It was a "fun thing" that left them wanting more 😄 and resulted in a huge GES tour in the summer of 2018 with more than 100,000 visitors 🙌. This sparked a desire to continue playing together, and the show "Stanna världen för en stund" (Stop the world for a moment) was born 🌍⏸️.
In the fall of 2021, it was finally time for GES to hit the road again. By December 2022, they had performed the show 150 times, including four sold-out shows at Scandinavium in Gothenburg and 81 sold-out shows at Cirkus in Stockholm.
Over the years, Orup has been awarded four Grammis 🏆 in the categories "Newcomer of the Year," "Composer of the Year," "Pop Male Artist," and "Honorary Award of the Year," Povel Ramel's prestigious Karamelodiktstipendium 🎼, the Evert Taube Award, and the King's medal "Litteris et Artibus" 👑 – for outstanding artistic achievements in Swedish music.
In January 2024, the show "Orup Bara" ✨ premiered at Rival in Stockholm, and after a successful spring in the capital, the show moved west to Draken Live in Gothenburg 🐉🎭 where it ran throughout the fall, before embarking on an extensive tour of Sweden in the spring of 2025 🚐🇸🇪. "Orup Bara" was seen by more than 101,000 visitors 👏.
This year, Orup, together with a nine-piece band 🎺🥁🎸, is embarking on his first summer tour as a solo artist in 14 years 🌞🎶.
