From health resort to fun resort
Kneippbyn was founded as a health resort in the early 1900s by Dr. Kallenberg. Inspired by Sebastian Kneipp, a monk suffering from tuberculosis who cured himself by alternating between cold and hot baths, guests came to Kneippbyn to be cured in the spirit of Kneipp. Since 1976, Kneippbyn has been run by the Werkelin family, and today people come to Kneippbyn to have fun, relax, and enjoy the fantastic location.
From hotels to tree houses
Kneippbyn offers approximately 760 beds in mobile homes, cottages, fishing cabins, tree houses, glamping tents, apartments, and hotels, as well as approximately 200 camping sites. The wide range of accommodation options offers a variety of price points and experiences – a comfortable hotel vacation or a budget vacation in a tent, an exciting jungle theme for children in a tree house, or a romantic fishing cabin with a sea view.
Anniversary 2026
Kneippbyn began its journey as a resort back in 1907, but its major development began when the Werkelin family took over in 1976.
For half a century, they have owned, cared for, and carefully allowed Kneippbyn to grow—as a place where time, tradition, and imagination intertwine. Guided by curiosity and a passion for bringing generations together, the family has contributed to countless summer memories for both Swedish and foreign holidaymakers.
As Kneippbyn enters its 50th anniversary, there is a special sense of anticipation in the air. The past whispers of adventures that once were, while something new and exciting begins to stir behind the scenes – ready to take shape and surprise even those who think they know the place best.
