Despite the short distances, you will find several high-quality courses offering unique nature experiences and challenges. But why is Gotland so well suited to golf?
We called one of the island's biggest golf personalities:

High-quality golf courses on Gotland
Visby Golf Club
The island's most famous club with numerous awards in its trophy cabinet. The flagship course, The One, is an 18-hole course of high European standard, ranked third in the Nordic region by Golf Digest. Visby GK continuously emphasizes its relentless pursuit of the absolute best overall experience.

Training: Visby GK offers a variety of courses for most target groups. Summer courses for children are a regular feature. A private lesson (50 minutes) costs approximately SEK 950.

Gumbalde Golf Club
Gumbalde is Gotland's new major venture for the experienced golfer. A brand new 18-hole course has been created, designed by Pierre Fulke. Gumbalde is keen to share what they call the joy of golf and has created a mix of fun, challenging, and rewarding holes for everyone.

Training: At Gumbalde, you can take part in courses for all ages throughout the year. A private lesson (50 minutes) costs around SEK 750.

Kneippbyn Adventure Golf
Try Kneippbyn's adventure golf. A mix between regular golf and mini golf, it features courses with different themes, with or without buildings, water systems, bunkers, and other obstacles. Kneippbyn's course stands out for its pirate theme, and the course is lined with pirates.
The courses resemble a regular golf course, but with the difference that all holes are within putting distance. A challenge for everyone, both big and small. There are several tricky ways to tackle the different holes, and it is not uncommon for scores to fluctuate rapidly.

Gotska Golf Club
The course located "in the middle of town." Jack Wenmanbanan offers 18 holes with varying degrees of difficulty on a compact area. A good choice for a "quick" round.

Slite Golf Club
Slite GK's varied forest and park course spreads out across the northeastern island. The course has been renovated in stages, and in 2023, a new green area was launched, among other things. In its marketing, Slite GK focuses on the greens, which are said to be both the hardest and fastest on the island.
Green fee: SEK 450-890 depending on season and tee time.
Training: Courses with varying focuses are held on an ongoing basis. A private lesson (50 minutes) costs approximately SEK 750.

Lugnets Golf – Pay & play
A hidden gem on the Gotland golf map. Practically in the middle of the forest, just a stone's throw from Visby, you will find easily accessible golf for everyone. The 9-hole course is a so-called pay & play course, and you don't need a green card or membership. If you just want to get away for a while and hit a few balls, "Lugnet" is definitely an option.
Green fee: SEK 300 during high season.
Practice: Driving range 50 balls for SEK 30.

When GK
If you feel like going on a longer excursion (59 minutes by car), you will find När GK at the southeastern tip of the island. A seaside course with a special character that is often described as a mixture between a heath and a links course.
Green fee: SEK 695 during high season. Discounted 3- and 6-day golf packages are available.
The facility also has a short course for practice.
Training: During the season, courses are arranged for several target groups. A private lesson (50 minutes) costs approximately $80.

Ljugarn Golf Club
The main focus of the course is to create a family-friendly experience where everyone can enjoy golf in a relaxed environment. There are not quite as many facilities in the area compared to other courses, but it is definitely a pleasant alternative.
Green fee: SEK 300 during high season (9-hole course).
Training: Every Summer , the club Summer an instructor to hold courses. The summer program is presented on their website closer to the season.
