Fancy a tasty trip to northern Gotland? Near Kappelshamn, you will find the family-owned restaurant Gotlandsvåfflan. Here, they serve waffles like you have never tasted before. The waffles are unique in terms of both taste and appearance. You could say that a visit to Gotlandsvåfflan is a must during your vacation.

We had a chat with Linda Strömberg, who has been running the business since it started 10 years ago.
"This year is our 10th anniversary. It has been a fantastically fun but also demanding journey to get where we are today. Being part of and a memory of a family's vacation feels so fun but also responsible," says Linda, steering the conversation toward the much-talked-about waffles:
"Locally produced, Gotland-grown, and allergy-free have been constant goals throughout the journey. For example, we get asparagus and vegetables directly from Vägume Mill and Röcklingers here in Lärbro every morning. Our waffles are completely gluten-free and can of course be served lactose-free and vegan – so that everyone can enjoy them, regardless of allergies. We are really proud of that.
The menu is creative and there is something sweet and something really hearty.
– Here you will find personal service and a kitchen where simplicity meets culinary finesse. We promise that you will leave here both full and satisfied, says Linda.

A trip to northern Gotland

Summer Gotland is strongly associated with cozy excursions. With 10 years of experience in the tourism industry on the northern side of the island, we asked Linda to share some wonderful tips.
"I am often asked what we recommend doing when visiting northern Gotland. There are many gems that I can recommend and that we often hear our guests appreciate," says Linda, continuing:
"When it comes to nature and swimming experiences, I can highly recommend a stop at Bläse, which is an incredibly beautiful place, and then continuing on to Blå Lagunen for a swim. Or if you want a quieter swim, Smöjen, Kappelshamnsviken, or Slite beach are excellent choices. Of course, there are also the Fårö or Lummelunda caves, but it feels like everyone already knows about those.

Want a little more action?
If youlike speed and adventure, visit one of Europe's coolest racetracks in a unique setting, Gotlandring, located 4 km from here. Or dive in the blue lagoon or on wrecks with Dyk & sport gotland, located right next door to us. But something I personally think is really cool is the feeling of gliding out from the beach in Slite on a fast-gliding electric jet surf at 50 km/h. It's quite an experience. From the bike rental in Visby's inner harbor, head south and you will reach Kneippbyn Resort in just a few minutes. A perfect base for accommodation in the form you desire. Gotland's most visited house by far, Villa Villekulla, is located in the area, inviting you to have lots of fun and excitement. If you don't have too many miles in your legs before the journey, the short trip offers both Högklint and Fridhem. The latter is a large rocky beach where both tower builders and those eager to swim will find their place. At Fridhem, you will also find a cozy café if you need to recharge your batteries.

If you're feeling strong and want to explore a little more, there are some real highlights to be found along the well-maintained bike trail.

For many, Tofta is the perfect stop. Kilometers of sandy beach stretch out before you, inviting you to take a refreshing dip. The beach is shallow, and if you don't want to lie right next to the water, there are several "hiding places" where the wind cannot reach you. Tofta has become a meeting place, and there are lots of fun things to do. Stand-up paddleboarding has been a steady trend in recent seasons, and in all honesty, it's probably a little trickier than it looks at first glance.

A little further south, you will find Västergarn, with Visby Golf Club and Stelor as the most prominent gems. At Stelor, you can enjoy both a delicious lunch and dinner. Always served with a focus on locally produced ingredients.

When we head north to Gotland, you can enjoy a real bathing adventure. The cold bath house is located next to the well-known Almedalen. Sneaking out onto the bathing jetty is a nostalgic experience that attracts thousands of enthusiasts every year. Continue along the beach promenade and you will reach Norderstrand in just a few minutes. In these parts, there is usually a light snack bar.

The next stop is Gustavsvik. This charming bay offers a beautiful view of the smallest of the islands. Snäck, with its famous Snäck chimpanzee. A solitary rock formation that has come to resemble a chimpanzee. In addition to a beautiful beach, Snäck also offers a restaurant, café, and heated pool area.

After four quick dips, it's time for a slightly longer ride on your steel horse before the charming Själsö Hamn comes into view. The fishing village has a barbecue area for picnics, and the popular Själsö bakery is located on the hill.

Continue along the cycle path and you will eventually find both Krusmyntagården and Lummelundagrottan. A four-kilometer-long cave system where the brave have much to explore.

When planning your cycling adventure, it is of course easiest to explore the island's western coastline. Don't forget that a bicycle doesn't necessarily have to be your only means of transport around the island during a sustainable vacation. Local buses run relatively frequently, and a day trip to Östergarnslandet is time well spent.
